My name is Ray Hanna and I am delighted to share with you the news that I have been called to serve as your part-time rector beginning on July 1. Before we meet in person, I just wanted to briefly introduce myself. I am blessed to have had the sacred privilege of being a priest in the Episcopal Church for 30 years. I am now finishing up my ministry as Interim Rector at St. Paul’s, Wilmington, NC as they are about to call a new rector. I serve on the Commission on Ministry and the Disciplinary Board in the Diocese of East Carolina.
Immediately preceding my ministry at St. Paul’s, I served as rector of St. Stephen’s, Goldsboro. I am delighted to be returning to the Diocese of North Carolina where I previously served for over 12 years as rector of Trinity, Mount Airy. I have a BA in religion from the University of the South and a Master’s of Divinity. from the Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. I have two adult children, a son, and a daughter. My son, Christopher, is a recent college graduate and is looking for a job. He majored in theatre and Covid has not helped his search. He does work outside his field thanks be to God. My daughter, Carson, is a Social Worker in Norfolk, VA. I also have a rescue dog named Marvin, who is a relatively new Episcopalian.
I am looking forward to seeing you in person and getting to know you all as we begin our journey in faith together. I am anxious to build on St. Stephen’s legacy of ministry in sharing the good news of Jesus and his love in a hurting and broken world. God bless you.
